Deadly Diabetes Advice For Diabetics From a Registered Dietician!
This is an excerpt from an article on Living With Diabetes, written by a Licensed Dietitian who will, mercifully (on my part!), remain nameless!
"By definition, diet simply means the foods that you choose everyday. There are no special foods for people with diabetes; you can eat all of the same foods that your family enjoys.
Food is such an important part of our culture and while some of our favorite foods may contribute to diabetes and heart disease, we should not have to give them up all together. By simple portion control and modifying the preparation of foods, you can enjoy all the foods that you love."

So, blissfully "eat all the same foods that made you sick?"
This is incredibly bad advice to give a well person, let alone someone who is dying from diabetes!
Oh, you did not know that diabetes is a death sentence? It, along with its complications is the 3rd leading cause of death in this country and cuts about 10-15 years off of your life span?
Nutrition is the key to curing diabetes and most other chronic diseases. Poor nutrition is a big factor in insulin resistance, leading to a build up of acid in the blood and the generation of free radicals. Free radicals are mutant cells that attack normal cells, turning them into free radicals in a cascading chain of celluar raidcalization and spreding cell damage.
As a result of poor nutrition, acidosis and free radical damage, the insulin receptors on cells do not function properly and therefore glucose, sugar is prevented from entering the cells, which then call for more insulin. The result is that insulin and glucose build up in the blood stream, signaling but not causing diabetes. This leads to obesity, nerve damage, poor circulation; precursors to the complications of diabetes.
40% of diabetics suffer nerve damgae
25% suffer eye damage
50% suffer kidney damage
80% die from cardiovascular damage
Contrary to our mainstream diatician, the diet must be changed radically to an alkaline diet that helps eliminate the acidosis and contributes antioxidants to help fight the free radicalls.

Cold, Hard Mortality Facts on People with Diabetes
According to the Diabetic Information Clearing House, diabetes is more than high blood sugar:
Diabetics are twice as likely to die at a given age than non diabetics.
Diabetics are 2-4 times as likely to have a heart attack or stroke compared to a non diabetic.
80% of diabetics will die of a heart attack or stroke
75% of diabetics have high blood pressure
Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in the age group 20-74
Diabetes is the leading cause of Kidney failure in the US
About 70% of diabetics have or will develop damage to their nervous systems including pain or numbness in the feet and erectile dysfunction among others
Diabetes is the leading cause of amputations, about 60% of all amputations in the US
One Third of diabetics will have severe gum disease
Diabetics are more likely to die from pneumonia and the flu than non diabetics
On average, diabetes will cut about 10-15 years off the normal lifespan of an individual.
Managing blood sugar alone will not prevent these complications from developing, although it will help.
Most of these complications arise from the oxidative stress and excess acidity diabetics live with.
This means that a shortage of antioxidants in the body allows free radicals to attack cells, tissues and organs in the body. Free radicals are the waste products of burning oxygen for fuel in the body. Free radicals are missing one electron in their atomic structure and will attack healthy cells to get the missing electron, thereby damaging or destroying the victimized cell. This can cause the cell to malfunction or die.
Acidity refers to the Ph level of the blood. Most people, including diabetics have too much acid in their bloodstream. This encourages the growth of disease producing microbes and can physically damage sensitive tissues such as the lining of the blood vessels, leading to high blood pressure, heart attacks and stroke.
Diabetic complications can be prevented by controlling blood sugar and by alkalizing your diet, exercise, herbal and nutritional supplements and by regular prayer or meditation.
